Operational expenditures model for renewable plant

    Get PDF
In this dissertation, system identification methods are applied to characterize the dynamic components behavior of a renewable plant (Hydro – Solar – Wind-Geothermal). First, the relevant factors that are explicative of our models are extracted, to after use Markov Chain and Monte-Carlo simulations to get the more suitable algorithm-based models to optimize the operation cost (or other operative parameters) along the life span of the plant (even under the life time extension mode) we set up the Lost Production Factor (LPF) as an output,. This model will help to better operate the plants by using diagnostics-prognostics, condition monitoring, forecast and predictions, and control design (design to cost). It will help choose the best technologies for the plants and operate the already existing ones in the most profitable way. The application examples are motivated by real-world engineering challenges with renewable Plants under one of the large utilities in the world. The ISO 55000 series Standards are used as a guide, in order to be able to get the proper certification if needed in the future

Gene gating at nuclear pores prevents the formation of R loops

Transcription is an important source of genetic variability. A large amount of transcription-associated genome variation arises from the unscheduled formation of R loops. We have recently found that physical proximity of chromatin to nuclear pores prevents the formation of pathological R loops during transcription. Our study opens new perspectives to understand genome stability as a function of nuclear location

Autonomous communities funding system: the valencian case and the federal reform proposal

Treball Final de Grau en Finances i Comptabilitat. Codi: FC1049. Curs acadèmic: 2019-2020One of the recurring issues in the context of Valencian regional policy is the question of the funding system. Over the years, the different autonomous governments have tried to negotiate an improvement in the resources provided by the state. However, civil society, economic and social actors still consider this situation unfair. In addition, the conflict that exists nowadays between the central administration and Catalonia has caused the appearance of differing voices calling for a reform of the territorial organization of the State based on federalism, as a solution for the territorial problems. This paper analyses the last settlement of the Autonomous Communities funding system from the perspective of Comunidad Valenciana with the purpose of clarifying if there really is such a prejudice, as well, it provides a reflection on the suitability of carrying out a reform of the current financing system

Detection of Communities within the Multibody System Dynamics Network and Analysis of Their Relations

Multibody system dynamics is already a well developed branch of theoretical, computational and applied mechanics. Thousands of documents can be found in any of the well-known scientific databases. In this work it is demonstrated that multibody system dynamics is built of many thematic communities. Using the Elsevier’s abstract and citation database SCOPUS, a massive amount of data is collected and analyzed with the use of the open source visualization tool Gephi. The information is represented as a large set of nodes with connections to study their graphical distribution and explore geometry and symmetries. A randomized radial symmetry is found in the graphical representation of the collected information. Furthermore, the concept of modularity is used to demonstrate that community structures are present in the field of multibody system dynamics. In particular, twenty-four different thematic communities have been identified. The scientific production of each community is analyzed, which allows to predict its growing rate in the next years. The journals and conference proceedings mainly used by the authors belonging to the community as well as the cooperation between them by country are also analyzed

The use of technology in a model of formative assessment

This work describes a formative assessment model for the Mathematical Analysis course taken by engineering students. It includes online questionnaires with feedback, a portfolio with weekly assignments, exams involving the use of mathematical software and a project to be completed in small groups of two or three students. The model has been perfected since 2009, and during the 2014-15 academic year the creation of a pilot online learning community was added. Based on Google+, it has been used for a peer assessment experiment involving student projects, among other usesPeer Reviewe

Small Projects: A Method for improving Learning.

    Get PDF
Ideas concerning problem-based learning (PBL) developed after running different experiences in different Spanish Universities, are discussed. The driver for introducing PBL has been the requirement for studying Mathematics by the Engineering students. A methodology hybrid of problem-based learning for Mathematics in Engineering studies is proposed. The model is a combination of formal lectures, practical and laboratory sessions with autonomous small projects

Uso de tecnología en un modelo de evaluación formativa

    Get PDF
